Hi, I’m Venetia Carney Breene, LICSW
Owner & Psychotherapist
I am a relational therapist who works with young adults navigating transitions including challenges around identity development, relational conflict, and career decisions. I specialize in working with anxiety, OCD, eating disorders, ADHD, and issues related to women’s health.
I believe that my clients are experts in their own experiences, and I feel privileged to be welcomed into their lives. My goal is to create a warm, safe, and non-judgmental space where curiosity, compassion, and body-positive presence guide every session. In this relational space, we will explore emotions, patterns, and somatic experiences to help you feel grounded and more connected to your true-self.
CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Massachusetts & Rhode Island, with a masters degree in social work (MSW). I have experience working at various levels of care - from inpatient at McLean Hospital, to outpatient at Mass General Brigham, and with various levels of need - from acute crises, to chronic illness.
My work with clients draws from training in Internal Family Systems, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Exposure Response Prevention, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, trauma informed and yoga informed therapy, as well as a certification in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I have also completed a fellowship at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society & Institute in psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
I have extensive experience working with college students, clients with ADHD across the lifespan, as well as those managing anxiety/OCD and eating disorders. I truly value working across spectrums of gender, race, sexuality, and class, and identify as an ally to the BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and disability communities. And as a member of NASW and MEDA, and am committed to life-long learning in the field.
